Photo: Spring 2026 Intern, Entomology Spring 2023 Intern, Invertebrates Major: Biology Anticipated Year of Graduation: 2026 What collections are you working with: Entomology Who is your staff/faculty mentor: Dr. Joseph McHugh What are your interests (academic & otherwise): I have been interested in invertebrate zoology and husbandry since I was very young, and I keep many kinds of invertebrates as a hobby, along with some reptiles. Biology in general has also been a lifelong interest of mine. Though ecology and entomology are my favorite branches, I have yet to find a biological discipline that did not fascinate me in some way. What are you doing with your collection: I will be helping to mount, pin, and label insect specimens, as well as organize and database them. What made you want to do an internship with GMNH: Being able to work with animals that I know I might not ever see up close in the wild is such an incredible opportunity, and it is so exciting to learn about new taxa in a hands-on fashion. Gaining technical experience in identifying and preparing specimens is something that traditional classes just weren't able to offer. I also learned that I simply love the museum setting from my first GMNH internship, which definitely made me want to seek another.
